Subject: -75- How can I print to a printer with a JetDirect card?

Configure the JetDirect card to act as an 'lpr' print server (see the
JetDirect documentation) and set up the 'lpr' software on your SGI as
you would for any remote 'lpr' printer. You may also want to set up a
bridge to the 'lp' system; see above.

Note that not all JetDirect cards can be configured as 'lpr' print
servers. Hewlett-Packard has revised the firmware of the JetDirect
cards several times, and the earlier revisions did not support 'lpr'
printing directly to the printer. While you may be able to remotely
upgrade later revisions of the card, you may have to resort to
sending the file over TCP port 9100 directly on earlier revisions.
