The primary tape of Climate Model Data from CO2 runs has long-term means for a number of 1x and 2x CO2 runs and the decade means for two GISS transients and some year-month data. Monthly averages over about 10 years are presented for the GFDL (1988), UK (1986), GISS (1982), GFDL (1985), and OSU (1985) runs; the last three were used for the EPA studies done between October 1987 and May 1988. Each run has 7-24 variables such as surface air temperature, humidity, precipitation, runoff, evaporation, surface wind, downward surface radiation, etc. The primary tape includes 10 years of data for individual months (21 variables) from the GFDL Q-flux run. The GISS Transient runs consist of two long runs (one is 1958 2062), only the average data each decade is in the standard format, and the basic data has each year. A program interpolates annual values between the decade means for the user.
NCAR has 3 PC diskettes with only 3 variables (temperature, precipitation, downward solar) for 1x and 2x CO2 runs from 3 models: GISS (1982), GFDL (1988), and UK (1986). Access software is available that will select a latitude/longitude window from any of the global grids. Another program selects data for all 12 months from both 1x and 2x CO2 runs, for one grid point.
NCAR has a GISS Transient-A on a PC diskette has averages for control run and decades of 2010's, 2030's, and 2050's. Access software allows one to select a latitude/longitude window and calculate a difference (or ratio) between any two fields (to look at temperature or precipitation change). Another program selects data for all 12 months from the control and for one decade, for one grid point.
NCAR has a long sample of three years of daily data from the 1x and 2x, GFDL Q-flux runs, totalling 24 tapes with 171 variables, but the basic data is in a difficult format. Extracted data for the six years has only 21 variables and is in an easier format.
The full basic data from 1x and 2x CO2 runs are long period monthly data in native formats, some being difficult. These include GISS 1x and 2x runs, 54 variables, height levels to 30 mb, and 2 wind levels; GISS Transients, 56 variables; GFDL 1x and 2x runs (1985), 160 variables; and GFDL 1x and 2x runs (1988), 171 variables, and this tape has 10-year monthly means.
